Acurion Advisory Pty Ltd (“Acurion Advisory”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) as contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (“Privacy Act”). This Privacy Policy outlines how Acurion Advisory handles your personal information, including how we collect, use, disclose, store and protect it. It applies to all individuals who interact with us, including clients, contractors, employees, suppliers and website visitors.

This Privacy Policy also applies to our website (the “Site”). We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes to our practices or legislative amendments. The latest version will always be available on our Site.

  • Government departments or regulatory bodies
  • Third-party identity verification services, sanctions screening databases, and regulatory data sources (including ASIC, the Australian Taxation Office, the DFAT Consolidated Sanctions List and the UN Security Council Sanctions List) where required to satisfy our obligations under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth) and our AML/CTF Program

If you provide personal information about another individual, you must have their authority or consent and refer them to this Privacy Policy.

3. Meeting Notes and Recordings

Occasionally, we may record client meetings or use transcription tools (e.g. Microsoft Teams) to assist with note-taking and ensure the accuracy of our services. These recordings are for internal use only and are not made by default. Where a meeting is to be recorded, we will inform you in advance and provide you with the option to decline.

Any audio or transcription files created are handled securely, retained only for as long as necessary to fulfil their purpose, and then deleted or de-identified in accordance with our data retention practices. We do not use recordings for marketing or external purposes.

4. Use of Personal Information

We collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information when it is reasonably necessary to carry out our business functions and activities, including:

  • Providing professional service in accordance with our engagement
  • Responding to your enquiries and services requests
  • Managing and maintaining communication with you

  • Fulfilling employment or recruitment process

  • Regulatory authorities including the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC), the Australian Federal Police, and the Australian Sanctions Office (within the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade), where we are required to make reports under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth) or other applicable laws. Where required by law, we may be prohibited from informing you that such a disclosure has been made

We do not sell or trade personal information. We also do not disclose your personal information to third parties for the purposes of marketing to you. We may, however, share aggregated or de-identified information for research or promotional purposes.

6. Overseas Disclosure

In some cases, personal information may be stored or processed by third-party providers overseas. Where we disclose your information to these providers, we take reasonable steps to ensure that they comply with the APPs or are subject to laws substantially similar to the Privacy Act.

7. Data Security and Retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Measures include:

  • Physical security of offices and document storage
  • Password-protected and encrypted digital systems
  • Access controls and internal policies governing data management

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes outlined above or as required by law. When no longer needed, we securely destroy or de-identify the information.

Where we are required by the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth) or other applicable laws to retain records relating to your engagement, we will hold those records for the period required by law. For AML/CTF records, this is a minimum of seven (7) years following the conclusion of our relationship with you.

8. Access and Correction

You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you. Request should be made in writing. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and may request identity verification. While we do not generally charge for access requests, we may charge a reasonable fee for extended or complex requests.

If you believe any personal information we hold is inaccurate, incomplete or outdated, please contact us to request a correction.
